Choosing your box

Box styles, sizes and how to measure your product.

Can you recommend the best box type for my product?

Packwire makes four box styles. Here's what each one is for, with its size range and minimum order:

  • Mailer Boxes are the most popular choice. Corrugated, ship-ready, and tuck closed without tape or glue. Great for e-commerce, subscription boxes, and direct-to-consumer shipping. Works as both primary packaging (the box your customer sees) and secondary packaging (the box it ships in). Any size from 2" x 2" x 2" up to 20" x 20" x 6", including fully custom dimensions. Minimum 10 units.
  • Shipping Boxes are your standard corrugated box with flaps. Sturdier than mailers and ideal for heavier or larger products. Typically used as secondary or tertiary packaging to protect the product inside during transit. 7 stock sizes from 6" x 6" x 6" to 17" x 14" x 12", custom sizes by quote. Minimum 10 units.
  • Folding Boxes are thin, lightweight cardstock boxes. Perfect for retail shelves, cosmetics, food, and smaller products. These are primary packaging, meant to be seen by the customer. Not designed for shipping on their own. 10 stock sizes from 2.25" x 2.25" x 3.25" to 7" x 5" x 3.5". Minimum 500 units.
  • Rigid Boxes are premium, non-collapsible boxes (think phone or jewelry packaging). They arrive pre-assembled and are built to impress. Primary packaging for luxury or high-end products. Not safe to ship on their own. 9 stock sizes from 3.5" x 3.5" x 1" to 9" x 9" x 2.5". Minimum 500 units.

All dimensions are interior measurements in inches, listed as Length x Width x Depth.

Still not sure? Reach out with your product details and we'll recommend the best fit. No cost, no obligation.

How do I measure my product to choose the right box size?

All box dimensions on our site are interior measurements listed as Length × Width × Depth. That's the usable space inside the box. The outside is slightly larger because of the board's thickness. To find your size, grab a ruler or measuring tape and measure your product at its longest, widest and tallest points.

How much room to add depends on the box style. Our boxes are cut accurately to the interior size you order, so on most styles you don't need to add any extra. On shipping boxes, add about 1/8" to allow for the glue flap.

Shipping the product in the box with void fill, tissue paper or inserts? Leave room for those too. For an odd-shaped item, measure its bounding box: the smallest rectangle that fits the whole product.

Not sure which size works best? Enter your product's dimensions in our Box Size Optimizer. It finds the smallest inside size that fits them, void fill included. Or contact us and we'll help you find the right fit.

Will my box size be exactly what I ordered?

Yes, within a small manufacturing tolerance. The sizes on our website are inside dimensions, so the outside of the box is a little bigger by the thickness of the board. Our digital cutting tables hold sizes to within 1/16". Shipping boxes can vary by up to 1/8" because of the glue flap. That's why we suggest adding about 1/8" on shipping boxes when you measure your product.

What are your box styles called in industry terms?

Box styles go by different names depending on who you ask. Here's what each Packwire box is called in the trade, so you can match it to a spec sheet, a 3PL's packing guide or another supplier's quote:

  • Mailer Boxes: Roll end front tuck with dust flaps (FEFCO 0427). Also called REFT, RETT or roll end tuck top. Cut from one sheet of corrugated board, with a hinged lid that folds down over the front and locks into the side walls, and dust flaps that close off the corners. It ships flat and goes together without tape or glue.
  • Shipping Boxes: Regular slotted container (FEFCO 0201). Also called RSC or corrugated shipping box. Four walls with four flaps on top and four underneath, where the outer flaps meet in the middle. It arrives flat with the side seam already glued, and closes with tape.
  • Folding Boxes: Reverse tuck end folding carton (RTE). Also called folding carton, product box or reverse tuck end. Cut and creased from one sheet of paperboard and glued along one side seam. The top tucks in from the back and the bottom from the front.
  • Rigid Boxes: Two-piece set-up box. Also called box and cover, gift box or telescoping box. A tray and a lift-off lid, each made from thick chipboard wrapped in printed paper. It arrives assembled and never folds flat.

Each style's page shows its dieline and the name of every part. For what the style codes mean, see What is a FEFCO code?

What is a FEFCO code, and which codes are your boxes?

The FEFCO code is the international catalog of corrugated box styles, published by FEFCO, the European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers. Each style has a four-digit number, so a supplier, 3PL or packaging engineer anywhere in the world knows exactly which construction you mean.

FEFCO codes cover corrugated boxes only. Folding cartons have a separate catalog, but they're usually just called by their closure style, and ours is a reverse tuck end folding carton (RTE). Rigid set-up boxes have no standard code.

Do you make magnetic closure, drawer or other rigid box styles?

Yes, by quote. The rigid box priced on our website is a two-piece set-up box: a tray with a lift-off lid. Other rigid styles, such as magnetic closure boxes and drawer boxes, aren't part of our standard range, but we can make them. Request a quote with the style, size and quantity you have in mind.

Can folding boxes have an auto-lock bottom, a hang tab or a window?

Yes, by quote. Our standard folding box is a reverse tuck end folding carton, with tuck flaps at the top and bottom. Auto-lock bottoms, hang tabs, windows and other options aren't part of our standard range, but we can make them. Request a quote and tell us what you need.

Can mailer boxes have a tear strip or a peel-and-seal closure?

Yes, though they aren't part of our standard mailer box. We usually quote tear strips and peel-and-seal adhesive strips separately. We can sometimes add them to orders placed on our website too. It depends on whether the equipment is free at the time. Ask us and we'll tell you what's possible for your order.

Do you offer box styles that are not listed on your website?

Yes. Beyond the four styles we sell online, we can make just about any structure you have in mind. Minimums depend on the style, so ask us and we'll be happy to help.

When is Packwire not the right fit?

We'd rather tell you up front. We're at our best when your box does marketing work: full-color, graphics-heavy packaging, printed inside and out. That goes for short and medium runs and for larger volumes too. Digital cutting means no dies or tooling charges, and digital printing means no plates. So heavy artwork adds no setup cost, and changing a size or design between orders costs nothing extra.

We're not the best choice for high-volume, plain or single-color boxes in standard styles, where the lowest price per box is the main goal. A box maker set up for exactly that kind of run will usually beat our price, and we'd rather point you their way.

Both parts matter. A large order with heavy branding suits us well, and so does a plain box on a short or medium run. If your project sits near the line, ask for a quote anyway. It costs nothing, and we'll be straight with you about whether we're the right choice.

Minimums & samples

Minimum orders, samples and the quantity you receive.

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

Our minimum order is 10 units for mailer boxes and corrugated shipping boxes. For rigid and folding boxes, it's 500 units.

Want to see and feel one first? Order a single printed mailer sample right from our 3D configurator. Just set the quantity to 1. It's $35 plus $6.25 shipping to the continental US, Alaska or Canada ($41.25 delivered).

Need fewer rigid or folding boxes than the minimum? Short runs are possible case by case. Setting up a run takes about the same machine time and hands-on work for 50 boxes as for 500. On a short run that cost is shared by far fewer boxes, so the price of each one climbs steeply. If a higher price per box still works for your project, tell us what you need. We'll tell you honestly what a short run would cost.

Can I order several designs in one order?

Yes. Each design is its own item in your order, so each design needs to meet the minimum order quantity on its own: 10 units for mailer boxes, 10 for shipping boxes, 500 for rigid boxes and 500 for folding boxes. Two mailer designs, for example, need at least 10 of each.

Can I order a physical sample?

Yes. A printed corrugated sample box is $35, plus $6.25 shipping to the continental US, Alaska or Canada. That's $41.25 delivered.

You can order a single printed mailer sample yourself, with your own artwork on it, in our 3D configurator. Just set the quantity to 1. Folding and rigid box samples are case by case, so contact us for those.

A sample takes about 10 days to make. Then it ships in the same transit time as a regular order. Planning a larger order afterwards? Ask your account manager about crediting the sample cost toward it. We can sometimes do that on higher-value orders, depending on the sample.

Can I get board swatches?

We don't have plain swatches, but there's a better way to compare boards. Order a printed mailer sample in each board you're considering: White Board, Kraft Board or SuperGloss. Each one is $35 + shipping. You'll see your own artwork on the real board, which shows you much more than a plain swatch would.

Can you produce more than 2,000 units?

Yes. We regularly produce runs well above 2,000 units.

Our 3D configurator stops at 2,000 units (3,000 for folding boxes). That's a limit of the online tool, and our team quotes anything above it.

Bigger runs usually get a better price per box. We may also print them with HD Flexo or Litho Lamination for even higher quality at scale. Contact us with your quantity, box style and size, and we'll send you a quote.

Will I receive exactly the quantity I ordered, or are there overs and unders?

For orders placed on our website, yes. Boxes ordered through our 3D configurator ship in the quantity you ordered, up to its limit of 2,000 units (3,000 for folding boxes).

Orders beyond what our website offers work a little differently. That means quantities above that limit, products we don't sell online, and runs printed with HD Flexo or Litho Lamination. For those, the delivered quantity can be up to 10% over or under what you ordered. In the industry these are called overs and unders (or overruns and underruns), and they're standard for these production methods. Either way it's settled at your price per box: overs are invoiced at the same per-unit price, and unders are credited or refunded at that price.

Pricing, quotes & discounts

What sets your price, quotes, discounts and fees.

What factors affect my box pricing?

Your price depends on size, box style, material and quantity. For mailer and shipping boxes, ink coverage counts too. The more you order, the less you pay per box.

Our 3D configurator measures how much of the box your artwork covers and reprices live in four bands: 0–25%, 25–50%, 50–75% and 75%+. A small logo lands in the lowest band, artwork covering the whole box in the highest. Folding and rigid boxes ignore coverage.

A mailer printed inside only counts as one-sided. Artwork on both the outside and the inside makes it two-sided, priced as full outside coverage plus 60%. We can print inside other box styles on request. Contact us for a quote.

Does the 3D configurator show live pricing?

Yes. Prices in our 3D configurator update as you design. Change the size, the quantity, the board or how much of the box your artwork covers, and the price changes right away.

Want a price before you start designing? Each box style has its own page with a live quote card. Pick a size, a quantity and a board, and add your ZIP code to see shipping too.

Do you charge any setup fees?

No. Products on our website have no setup fees. Setup fees only apply to specialized custom products or complex projects that aren't listed online. Contact us for the specifics on yours.

Do you offer discounts for bulk orders or wholesale pricing?

Yes. Volume pricing is built into every quote. The more you order, the less you pay per box, and you can watch the price update live in our 3D configurator. For larger orders, contact us with your quantity and specs and we'll quote your volume pricing.

We also offer a military and first responder discount on top of your volume pricing. One promotion or discount applies per order.

Do you offer agency or reseller pricing?

For the quantities on our website, the prices you see are already our best. So there isn't a separate agency or reseller rate. Above those quantities we can often do better. Request a quote with your quantities.

Ordering on behalf of clients? Our name never appears on the boxes, and we can blind ship orders straight to them.

Do you offer a military or first responder discount?

Yes. Active military, veterans and first responders get 10% off the first $3,000 of any order. It applies on top of our standard wholesale and B2B pricing. For pricing on the amount above $3,000, contact us.

The discount covers US military, veterans, military spouses, veteran-owned businesses, first responders and federal law enforcement agencies. It applies the same way to Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans and first responders. Military and first responders from other US-allied countries may qualify too. Reach out and we'll take a look.

How to claim it: contact our team before you place your order and tell us your status. We'll apply the discount for you. It can't be combined with other promotions or offers. Full details are on our military and first responder discount page.

Where do I enter a coupon or promo code?

There's a coupon field on the checkout page. Look for "Have a coupon code?" in the order summary. Click it, paste your code and apply it. Your discount shows in the summary before you pay.

Codes are case-sensitive, so paste yours exactly as you got it rather than retyping it. Only one discount applies per order, so a promo code can't be stacked with another offer like our military and first responder discount.

Code not working or expired? Contact us and we'll sort it out.

Will you price match if I find a lower quote elsewhere?

Yes. Packwire will do its best to match a lower quote from another provider. It depends on the box type, quantity and printing process, so send us the quote and we'll take a look.

How long does a quote take, and what should I send?

We reply as soon as we can. Some quotes need us to check materials or production options first, so we can't promise a set turnaround.

The more of this you send, the closer the first quote will be to final:

  • the box type, or what you're packing if you're not sure which style fits
  • inside dimensions, as length × width × depth in inches
  • the quantity, or the two or three quantities you're deciding between
  • print and material: outside only or inside too, finishes and any board preference
  • where it's shipping and when you need it
  • any files you have, like a dieline, artwork or a reference photo

Partial is fine. We'll ask about the rest. Send it through our quote request form.

How long is a quote valid, and can you hold pricing?

A quote is valid for the period stated on it. If yours doesn't give one, the pricing can change until you accept it, so just check with us that it's still current.

Ordering on a schedule or against a forecast? We can sometimes agree in writing to hold pricing across several releases. Held pricing covers the quantities, specs and period written into that agreement. We may revise it with written notice if the cost of board, ink, coatings or freight changes significantly. The same goes if your actual volumes fall short of the forecast.

What currency are your prices in?

All our prices are in US dollars (USD), and we charge your order in USD. Box pages, the 3D configurator, the cart, checkout and our quotes all show a plain $ sign. Any $ amount with no other currency next to it is in US dollars.

Paying from Canada or another country? Your bank or card issuer converts the charge at its own exchange rate, and some add a foreign transaction fee. Orders shipping within Canada also pay Canadian sales tax, added at checkout. See Do you charge sales tax?

Ordering & your account

Accounts, reorders, changes, cancellations and tracking.

Do I need an account to place an order?

To order on our website, yes. A free account keeps your order history and saved designs in one place, which makes reordering later quick.

Rather not create one? You can place an order with an account manager instead, by email at hello@packwire.com, through live chat, or by phone at 1-800-881-6093.

Can I save a design and come back to it later?

Yes. Any box you design in our 3D configurator can be saved to your account and picked up where you left off. Your saved designs live on your saved boxes page.

Every order you place also keeps its artwork on file in your order history, so you can reorder a previous design without resending any files.

You'll need a free account to save a design, the same one you use to place an order.

Can my team share an account or work on the same design?

Accounts are per person, but sharing a design is easy. Use the Share button in our 3D configurator to send a colleague a link to your box.

Teammates can also reorder or ask about your past orders. They just need to write from the same company email domain, and either copy in the colleague who placed the original order or have that colleague's go-ahead.

How do I reorder a previous box design?

You can reorder straight from your order history, where all your past orders and designs are saved. Find the order you'd like to repeat and click reorder. Or ask your dedicated account manager and they'll take care of it for you.

Want to change the size, quantity, artwork or anything else first? No problem at all. Tell us what you'd like to adjust and we'll help.

I want to change the quantity on an order I just placed, is that possible?

Yes, right up until you accept your online proof. After that, the quantity is locked in. Send us an email and we'll make the change for you.

I want to change the artwork on an order I just placed, is that possible?

Yes. You can change your artwork any time before you accept your online proof. Once you've accepted it, your artwork is locked in for production.

Can I cancel an order?

Yes. There's no cancellation fee at any point before production starts, and you get a full refund.

On orders placed on our website, production starts as soon as you approve your online proof, so approving the proof is the cutoff. Once your boxes are in production, the order can no longer be cancelled.

If you're unsure about anything on your proof, ask for another revision instead of approving. Revisions are unlimited and free.

How do I track my order?

Your dedicated account manager emails you tracking information as soon as your order ships. Questions about a shipment at any point? Reach out to your account manager or contact us, and we'll get you an update right away.

Artwork & proofs

Files, dielines, proofs and what we can print.

Will I see a proof before production?

Yes. A dedicated account manager personally reviews every order before anything goes to press.

Here's what to expect:

  1. You place your order
  2. We send you a 2D proof by email, within 24 business hours
  3. Your account manager checks the artwork for any issues like resolution, bleed, or color and lets you know if anything needs a tweak
  4. You give us the thumbs up

Nothing goes into production until you're completely happy with how everything looks.

How long do I have to approve my proof?

Up to 14 days. If we haven't heard from you after 14 days, we may cancel the order and issue a refund. Need longer? Just reply to your proof and let us know.

Production starts as soon as you approve, so it's worth one last look at spelling, layout and sizes first.

Can I request revisions after viewing the proof?

Yes. Proof revisions are unlimited and free. You can request changes until you're completely satisfied.

What artwork formats do you accept?

Packwire accepts virtually any format, but vector formats (PDF, AI, EPS) are preferred. A few things help your files print the way you expect:

  • Raster images (TIFF, JPEG, PNG) should be at least 300 DPI at the size they'll print. Our 3D configurator will accept a lower-resolution image without warning you, so it's worth checking before you upload. Your account manager will also flag low-resolution files before your proof.
  • Outline your fonts by converting them to vector paths. That way they can't be swapped or render incorrectly.
  • Transparency, overprint and blending modes don't always carry over correctly from one design program to another. Flatten them where you can, and check those areas closely on your proof.

For how far to run your artwork past the cut, see What are the bleed and color requirements? Dieline templates are on our guidelines page.

Can I send artwork from Canva, Word or other non-design software?

Yes. We work with just about any file type, including Canva exports, Word, PowerPoint and plain image files. We'll do our best to make whatever you have work. Once in a while a file comes from a program our team doesn't know well, but most of the time we can take it from there.

The one thing we can't fix is resolution. If your artwork is low resolution and there's no sharper version to send us, it will print blurry. That's why original logo and image files are always the best thing to send.

Don't have design software at all? Design right in our 3D configurator. Or send us your logo and artwork and we'll place it on the dieline for you at no extra cost.

What are the bleed and color requirements?

Run your artwork at least 1/4" (6 mm) past every cut line. That extra is the bleed: it's trimmed away when the box is cut, and it keeps a thin white edge from showing if the cut lands a hair to one side. If it needs fine-tuning, we do that in pre-flight and email you a proof to check.

Printing right up to the edges is fine. Most of our dieline templates show just the cut and fold lines, with no safe zone to stay inside. Rigid boxes are the one exception: the printed wrap folds over the board's edges, so keep text and logos clear of them.

Designing in our 3D configurator? Each face in the editor stops exactly at the panel's edge. Run background colors and images right up to it, and we'll handle the bleed in pre-flight.

We recommend CMYK. RGB files get converted to CMYK for print, and colors can shift along the way. Have critical Pantone colors? Let us know in advance. See Will my printed colors match what I see on screen? and Can you print PANTONE Colors (PMS)?

What minimum font size do you recommend?

We recommend at least 9pt for regular body text. For reversed or knockout text (light text on a dark background), go a little larger, at least 10-11pt. Ink spread can make small reversed type harder to read. Very fine serif fonts may need sizing up too. Not sure? Our prepress team will flag anything that might not print well before production begins.

Can you send me a dieline template?

Yes. You can download dieline templates for our standard box sizes on our guidelines page. Need one for a specific size or box style? Ask us and we'll send it right away.

Can I submit my own dieline and artwork?

Yes. After you place your order, email us your own dieline and artwork. We take AI, PDF, EPS, PSD, TIFF and most other common formats, and vector files are best. Our prepress team checks everything for print-readiness, including bleed, resolution and color mode. If anything needs adjusting, we'll reach out before production.

Can you help with dielines or artwork placement?

Yes, at no extra cost. Have artwork but not sure how to lay it out on a dieline? Send us your files and tell us what you have in mind. Our design team will place everything, set the bleed and safe zones, and send you a proof to approve before production.

Do you offer full design services?

Yes. Our in-house designers can take care of the whole design for you. A typical full-service package costs around $300 and includes up to three rounds of design revisions. Minor adjustments are often free or a small fee. Revisions to the proof of your order are separate, and those are always unlimited and free.

Do you keep my artwork on file?

Yes. We securely store your artwork for at least 5 years, and we do our best to keep it on file indefinitely. Once you've ordered, your artwork is saved, so you can reorder anytime without resending files. Reorder from your order history, or send us a message and we'll take care of it for you.

We'd still recommend keeping your own copies of your final artwork. Our commitment is five years from your last order. We do our best to keep files longer, but we can't guarantee it.

Is there anything you won't print?

Yes. Packwire declines a small set of artwork, and it's worth knowing before you design. We won't print:

  • Counterfeit packaging, or anything imitating another brand's trademarks, trade dress, or product identity;
  • Artwork that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property;
  • Content promoting hatred, violence, or discrimination;
  • Sexually explicit or obscene material;
  • Content promoting illegal activity, or depicting harm to minors;
  • Defamatory or harassing content.

If we decline an order under this policy, you receive a full refund.

One practical note: please make sure you own or have a license for everything in your artwork, including logos, fonts, photography, and illustrations. We print what you give us and don't check rights clearance, so we rely on you to have the rights in place. If you're unsure about something, it's best to check before you approve your proof. Full detail is in our Terms and Conditions.

Can you print variable data, like a different number or name on each box?

Yes, on orders over 2,000 units. Variable data printing puts something different on each box in the run, such as a sequential number, a unique code or a personalized name. Request a quote with your quantity and what needs to change from box to box.

Can I get 3D renders or mockups of my box to share?

Yes. Any box you design in our 3D configurator can be shared straight from Packwire: press Share for a link you can send to your team, a retailer or anyone else. For packaging designed outside the configurator, we can produce 3D renders for you with our CAD software.

Will Packwire's name or logo appear on my boxes?

No. Packwire's name and logo don't appear anywhere on your boxes. Ordering for a client? We can also blind ship the order, keeping our name off the shipping label and paperwork wherever we can.

Will you sign an NDA for a product that hasn't launched yet?

Sometimes. We look at NDAs case by case, so ask your account manager and send over the agreement you have in mind.

Printing & finishes

Print methods, color, inside printing and finishes.

What printing and cutting technologies do you use?

We print mailer boxes, shipping boxes and folding cartons straight onto the board with two digital printing technologies. Those three styles need no labels, lamination or wraps. Rigid boxes are the exception. Their artwork is printed on a paper wrap that's laminated around the chipboard, which is how every rigid box is made.

Digital Single-Pass prints in one fast pass with UV-curable inks. Ultraviolet light dries the ink instantly as the board moves through the press. Prints come out vibrant, durable, scratch-resistant and ready to handle right away. It's ideal for larger runs with consistent color across the whole order.

Digital Multi-Pass uses the same UV-curable inks but makes several passes over the board. That gives higher resolution and richer color. It's great for complex artwork, fine gradients and photo-quality graphics on smaller to mid-size runs.

For higher quantities, we also offer traditional printing methods like HD Flexo and Litho Lamination, which can cost less at scale.

For cutting, we use CAD digital cutting tables. They cut and score your box shape precisely without metal dies, so there are no tooling costs and sizes can change between orders. We also offer laser cutting, which is much faster than CAD cutting. On higher quantities, we may use traditional die cutting for efficiency.

Will my printed colors match what I see on screen?

They'll be close, though not identical. Screens make color with light (RGB), while presses lay down ink (CMYK), and ink can't reach some of the brightest colors a screen can show. Vivid blues, greens and neons are the ones most likely to print a little duller. Files sent in RGB are converted to CMYK automatically, which can shift colors, so design in CMYK where you can.

A few other things affect the result:

  • The board. Ink sits on top of the board's own color, so the same artwork prints darker and warmer on Kraft Board than on White Board.
  • Large solid areas can show slight banding or streaking, which is normal for digital printing.
  • Very light tints, under about 10%, can look uneven.
  • Your screen. Brightness, calibration and room lighting all change how colors look before anything is printed.

If color is critical, order a printed sample for $35 + shipping first and look at it in the light your customers will see it in.

Will a reorder match my first order exactly?

It will be very close. Your artwork and specs stay on file, so a reorder uses exactly the same files, and we keep production samples to help keep runs consistent. Small color differences between runs are still normal. Ink batches, board lots, humidity and press calibration all vary a little, and a reorder may be printed on a different press.

If matching an earlier run closely matters for your brand, mention it to your account manager when you reorder.

Do you provide inside printing?

Yes. We offer inside printing on all box styles, and it changes how the box feels when it opens. Brands often use it for thank-you messages, care instructions, social media handles or full interior designs. It uses the same digital process as the outside, so there's no loss in quality.

For mailer boxes, you can design the inside right in our 3D configurator. Two-sided printing is priced as full outside coverage plus 60%. For other box types, pricing depends on the box and the design, so contact us and we'll set it up for you.

What additional finishes or coatings do you offer?

Coatings depend on the box and how it's printed:

  • Mailer and shipping boxes ordered on our website are printed digitally. The UV-cured inks dry instantly and resist scratches, so these boxes don't take an added coating.
  • Folding boxes are made from board with a smooth finish between gloss and matte that resists fingerprints. Added coatings are available on some orders, depending on quantity.
  • Rigid boxes can have a matte, gloss or soft-touch coating, and selective varnish.
  • Boxes printed with Litho Lamination, on larger runs, can take matte, gloss, soft-touch or UV coatings.

Foil stamping, embossing and debossing are available on rigid and folding boxes above 3,000 units. Die-cuts, window cut-outs and foam inserts are available too, depending on box type and quantity.

Coatings and finishes aren't included in the prices on our website. Request a quote with your box style and quantity, and we'll tell you what's available.

Do you offer foil stamp?

Yes, on rigid and folding boxes, on orders above 3,000 units. Foil stamping uses a separate process, which is why it starts at 3,000. Ask us about foil for your order and we'll be happy to help.

Do you offer embossing or debossing?

Yes, on rigid and folding boxes, on orders above 3,000 units. Embossing raises part of your design from the surface and debossing presses it in. Both need a custom die, so they're quoted rather than priced on our website. Request a quote and we'll help you choose between them.

Materials & strength

Boards, flutes, strength, inserts and food safety.

What's the difference between White, Kraft and SuperGloss Board?

Packwire offers three board finishes for mailer boxes:

  • White Board is white on both sides with a matte finish, and the best choice for bright, true colors.
  • Kraft Board is natural brown on both sides. Colors print darker and more muted, which gives packaging a natural, earthy look.
  • SuperGloss has a glossy, clay-coated surface that gives colors an added sheen.

All three mailer boards are the same thickness. Shipping boxes come in White Board, white on both sides (or white outside and kraft inside on request), or in Kraft Board. SuperGloss is available on mailers only.

For what each board is made of, see our Packaging Board Chart.

What board thicknesses do you use?

Each box style uses its own material: corrugated board, cardboard or paper. Here's what to expect:

  • Mailer boxes: E-Flute 32 ECT (200 lbs TEST) - 1/16" thickness.
We also offer B-Flute mailers for any quantity if you need extra durability.
  • Rigid Boxes: 50pt chipboard + 80lbs litho paper (thicker board on larger sizes) - about 1/16" thickness total
  • Shipping Boxes: B-Flute 32 ECT (200 lbs TEST) - 1/8" thickness
  • Folding Boxes: 16-18pt SBS Board depending on size

For every flute, ECT grade and caliper in US and metric units, with real-world comparisons, see our Packaging Board Chart.

Need a different board thickness? Contact us and our team will be happy to help.

How sturdy are your mailers and shipping boxes?

Packwire uses 200 lbs test (32 ECT) board for both our mailers and shipping boxes. Mailers safely hold around 40 lbs per box, and our sturdier corrugated shipping boxes handle around 60 lbs.

Stacking them on a pallet? The Box Stacking Strength Calculator shows how high a box can go for its size, weight and storage conditions.

Are mailer boxes safe to ship?

Yes. Our mailer boxes are rated to ship on their own. They're made from E-Flute corrugated board, a single-wall build: two flat liners with one fluted layer in between. E-Flute may look thin at 1/16", but that structure makes it strong for its weight. Our mailers are rated at 200 lbs test (32 ECT) and can safely hold up to around 40 lbs of product.

They work with all major carriers, including USPS®, FedEx®, UPS® and DHL®, and they're built to handle those carriers' sorting and handling. Customers often ship clothing, cosmetics, candles, subscription box products, small electronics, food items, jewelry and promotional kits in our mailers with no outer box. The tuck-front closure keeps the box shut in transit, and the corrugated walls give most products enough cushioning. Mailers can ship as is, but we recommend a piece of tape on the closure. It also makes the package tamper-proof.

Are Rigid Boxes safe to ship?

Not on their own, unfortunately. Rigid boxes are made to show off your product. To ship one, put it inside a mailer or a shipping box. We have other options too, so feel free to get in touch with us.

Are Folding Boxes safe to ship?

Not on their own, unfortunately. To ship a folding box, put it inside a mailer or a shipping box.

Can I get mailer boxes in B-flute?

Yes. Our standard mailer box is E-flute, about 1/16" thick. It prints the sharpest and keeps postage down. If your product is heavy or has hard edges, we can make the same mailer in B-flute, about 1/8" thick, in any quantity. Our team quotes B-flute mailers rather than pricing them in the configurator. Request a quote with your size, quantity and artwork coverage, and we'll come back with pricing.

Can I get shipping boxes in E-flute, C-flute or double wall?

Yes. Our standard shipping box is single-wall B-flute, about 1/8" thick and rated 32 ECT, which carries around 60 lb. We can also make RSC shipping boxes in E-flute for a smoother print surface, in C-flute for more cushioning, and in double-wall board for heavy or stacked loads. Our team quotes these rather than pricing them in the configurator. Request a quote with your size, quantity and what you're shipping.

Do you use single wall or double wall for your corrugated boxes?

All our corrugated boxes are single wall by default. Double-wall boxes are available by quote, depending on availability and quantity. Ask us with your size, quantity and what you're shipping. To check whether your load needs double wall, try our Box Stacking Strength Calculator.

Can you lab test my boxes for strength?

Yes. We can arrange box compression (BCT) and edge crush (ECT) testing through a testing lab, generally on orders over 2,000 units. Ask your account manager about cost and availability.

To estimate stacking strength yourself first, try our Box Stacking Strength Calculator.

Do you offer custom inserts or partitions?

Yes. We make custom corrugated inserts and partitions that keep products secure and organized in your box. Options include dividers, trays and cradle-style inserts, all cut to fit your exact box size and product shape. The minimum order for custom inserts is 500 units. Contact us with your product dimensions and box size, and we'll recommend the best insert.

Do you sell branded tape, tissue paper, stickers or thank-you cards?

Sometimes, yes. We can source branded packing tape, tissue paper, stickers, thank-you cards and similar items, depending on the quantity and what's available at the time. Ask us with what you have in mind and how many you need.

Are your boxes food-safe? What about Prop 65 warnings and label claims?

The inks on our digitally printed corrugated boxes (mailer and shipping boxes) are graded for secondary food contact, meaning packaging food items that are already inside a protective barrier, like a sealed bag, wrapper, or jar. They are not intended for direct contact with unwrapped food.

Whether a box suits a specific food use depends on the box type, materials, coatings and how you'll use it. If your product is food-related, please contact us to confirm before you place your order.

As the brand, you have the final say on regulatory requirements. We make your boxes to your specification and print what you supply, and we don't provide legal or regulatory advice. In particular:

  • FDA: you'll want to confirm your use complies with applicable FDA regulations, including 21 CFR Parts 174-186 governing food-contact materials.
  • California Proposition 65: if your product needs a Prop 65 warning, please include the correct warning language in your artwork. We don't determine whether your product needs one.
  • FTC label claims: any claims, certifications, or endorsements on your packaging need to comply with FTC rules, including the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act. We print your claims as supplied and don't verify them.

We're always happy to share what we know about our own materials and inks to help you make that call. Just ask.

Production & lead times

How long production takes, rush orders and where boxes are made.

How long is your production time?

Production time is usually 10-20 calendar days, depending on quantity and box style. Rigid boxes take longer, about 30 days. Each one goes through more production steps, with an operator at every step.

Transit adds roughly one day to a week, depending on where you are and how big the order is. All in, plan on about 2-4 weeks door to door for mailer, shipping and folding boxes, and about 5-6 weeks for rigid boxes. Enter your ZIP code on any box page or at checkout to see an estimated delivery date. Planning a launch? Confirm exact dates with us first.

Production starts once you approve your online proof, so that's when the clock starts.

Need it sooner? Just ask. When our schedule allows, we often expedite at no extra charge, and rush options are there for tighter deadlines. Contact us with your timeline and we'll do our best to make it work.

Can you accommodate rush orders?

Yes, often. When our production schedule allows, we can expedite your order at no extra charge. For tighter deadlines, a rush fee may apply. Contact us with your timeline and we'll tell you what's possible.

Can you hold inventory and ship my boxes in scheduled releases?

Sometimes, for orders larger than what you can place on our website. We arrange holding stock and shipping it on a schedule case by case. Talk it through with your account manager, along with your volumes and timing. New to us? Start with a quote request.

Where are your boxes manufactured?

Close to home. Our corrugated boxes, including mailer and shipping boxes, are always made in the USA. Our folding cartons and rigid boxes are made in North America. Most are made in the USA, and all within the USMCA zone.

Making boxes on this side of the ocean means shorter lead times, fewer supply chain surprises and more consistent quality from order to order. It also keeps us close to every run, so we can stay on top of materials, print quality and finishing.

Ordering a specialty item that isn't on our website? We'll tell you where it's made before you commit.

Shipping & delivery

Rates, carriers, destinations and special deliveries.

Can I see shipping costs before placing my order?

Yes. You can see live shipping costs in the cart without logging in or creating an account. Add your boxes, enter your shipping address and you'll see real-time rates from the available carriers. You'll also see them at checkout if you'd rather review everything at once.

Sales tax is calculated at checkout rather than in the cart. US deliveries have no sales tax, and Canadian deliveries are taxed by province. See Do you charge sales tax? for details.

Questions about shipping options, or need a quote for a specific delivery? Contact us.

How will my boxes ship to me?

Smaller orders usually ship by parcel carrier, like FedEx, FedEx Express or UPS. Your boxes are packed into one or more packages and travel through the carrier's network, just like any online order you'd get at your door.

Larger orders ship by LTL Freight (Less Than Truckload). Your boxes go on a pallet and ride on a shared freight truck with other shipments. The truck pulls up to your location and unloads the pallet with a liftgate or at a loading dock. LTL usually costs less for larger orders. One pallet replaces dozens of separate packages, each of which would be weighed, sorted and charged on its own.

You choose the shipping method that works best for you at checkout. We don't offer USPS at the moment. Whichever method you pick, you'll get tracking information when your order ships.

Can I choose overnight or 2-day shipping?

Yes. Expedited shipping, like overnight and 2-day delivery, is available at checkout. It speeds up the trip to you. Production still runs on its regular schedule. Need your boxes made faster too? Ask us about expedited production. See Can you accommodate rush orders?

Do you offer international shipping?

We ship to all 50 US states, including Alaska and Hawaii, and to Canada. We don't ship to other countries right now. Transit times to Canada are similar to the US and depend on the location. Enter your postal code on any box page or at checkout to see an estimated delivery date.

We also can't ship to Puerto Rico or to APO/FPO military addresses. Military mail only reaches APO and FPO addresses through USPS, and we ship with FedEx and UPS.

Questions about a delivery? Contact us before you order.

Do Canadian orders pay duties or brokerage fees?

Any duties, brokerage fees and tariffs on a shipment to Canada are paid by you. They're separate from your Packwire order, and the carrier or customs collects them. Canadian sales tax is different. It's added at checkout, as explained in Do you charge sales tax?

We can't estimate or advise on duties for a particular shipment. If you need a figure before you order, check with the Canada Border Services Agency or a licensed customs broker.

Can I change my shipping address after I order?

Yes, as long as the order hasn't shipped. Contact us as soon as you can. A new address can change the shipping cost or delivery date, for example if it's farther away or needs a liftgate or residential delivery. We'll let you know if it does. Once an order has shipped, the carrier may not be able to redirect it.

Can I ship to multiple locations in one order?

Yes. We can split one order across several destinations. Send us the addresses and quantities for each location when you order, or reach out afterwards, and we'll split the shipment. Extra shipping charges may apply, depending on the number of destinations and shipment sizes. We'll confirm all costs before we go ahead.

Can you split orders?

Yes, we can split an order across several addresses. Whether it's a warehouse and a retail location or several facilities, we'll coordinate it. Additional shipping fees may apply depending on the number of destinations. Get in touch with your shipping details and we'll send you an exact quote.

Can you combine orders?

Yes. Placed separate orders and want them shipped together? Reach out and we'll merge them into one shipment. That can save on shipping. And if the combined quantity reaches a better price tier, we'll credit you the difference.

Can I ship my order on my own FedEx or UPS account?

Absolutely. Let us know when you order and we'll ship on your account.

Orders on your own carrier account ship FOB origin. The boxes are yours once the carrier collects them, and any shipping claim goes through your carrier. We'll gladly help with anything the carrier asks for. See What if I receive damaged or incorrect products?

Can I pick up my order?

We don't offer local pickup. Orders can be collected by a freight carrier, FedEx or UPS, whether we book the shipment or you arrange it on your own account.

Can you blind ship orders to my clients?

Yes, and we do it often. A blind shipment reaches your client with no Packwire name on the shipping label or paperwork, and the boxes themselves never carry our name. Let us know in advance, ideally when you place the order, so we can set it up.

We do our very best to keep every shipment blind. Now and then, though, a carrier requires a return address, or our name ends up on a piece of shipping paperwork. So we can't promise it on every shipment, but we'll always do everything we can to make it happen.

Can you ship to my 3PL or an Amazon FBA warehouse?

Yes, we do this often. Send us your 3PL's or Amazon's receiving requirements, like delivery appointments, labels or pallet specs, and we'll work with you to meet them. Handling fees can apply in some cases, for example when a delivery needs a liftgate or the site has limited access.

Packing for Amazon? Amazon's own product packaging requirements in Seller Central have the latest rules.

Can you ship to PO Boxes?

We're not able to ship to PO boxes, so please use a street address when you order.

How much will my order weigh, and how much space will it take up?

It depends on the box style, size, board and quantity, so we work it out order by order. Often we can give you an estimate up front. Sometimes the exact weight and dimensions are only known once the order is packed for shipping. Ask your account manager and they'll share what they have.

Can you bundle or pack my boxes a certain way?

Yes. We can bundle or pack your boxes the way you need them, whether that's a set number per bundle or packing that matches your warehouse's receiving rules. If it takes extra labor, a handling fee applies, and your account manager will let you know what it is.

Why is shipping so expensive for a light box?

Almost always dimensional weight. Carriers bill you for the greater of your package's actual weight and its dimensional (volumetric) weight, so a large but light box is charged as if it were heavy.

As of 2026, UPS, FedEx, USPS, DHL Express and Amazon Shipping all use a divisor of 139 for US domestic parcels. Fractional dimensions round up. Cubic volume above 10,368 cubic inches triggers an Additional Handling surcharge.

Our free Dimensional Weight Calculator shows the billable weight each of those five carriers would charge for any box size. It flags surcharge thresholds you're close to and tells you how much smaller the box needs to be to stop paying dimensional weight altogether. The fix is almost always right-sizing, and our Box Size Optimizer finds the smallest box your product actually fits in.

Carrier rules verified July 30, 2026. Carriers revise divisors and surcharge thresholds on their own annual cycles, so confirm current figures with the carrier before shipping.

Why is shipping more expensive for Rigid Boxes?

Rigid boxes make a great first impression. They arrive already assembled, though, so they take up more room in transit and cost a bit more to ship. The upside: a rigid box costs less to fulfill than a mailer, since there's no assembly time.

What are the minimum and maximum box sizes commonly accepted by carriers?

Each carrier sets its own size and weight limits for parcels. Here is a general overview:

CarrierMinimum SizeMaximum SizeMax Weight
USPS3.5" x 5" x 0.007"27" x 17" x 17" (machinable parcels), or 108" combined L + girth70 lbs
UPS6" x 4" x 0.75"108" max length, 165" combined L + girth150 lbs
FedEx6" x 4" x 1" (practical minimum)108" max length, 165" combined L + girth (Ground Economy: 70 lbs max)150 lbs

Packages exceeding these limits may be classified as oversized, incur surcharges, or require freight shipping. UPS and FedEx both apply large package surcharges when length + girth exceeds 130", and UPS also when length exceeds 96".

Staying inside the limits is only half the cost question. What you actually get billed for is usually dimensional weight, not actual weight. Three free tools help you check before you commit to a size:

  • Dimensional Weight Calculator: the billable weight UPS, FedEx, USPS, DHL Express and Amazon Shipping would each charge for your box, plus the surcharge thresholds you are near.
  • Freight Class Calculator: your NMFC freight class if the order ships LTL freight rather than parcel.
  • Box Size Optimizer: the smallest box your product actually fits in, which is what lowers both of the above.

For reference, Packwire's own boxes run from 2" x 2" x 2" up to 20" x 20" x 6" for mailers, and up to 17" x 14" x 12" for shipping boxes, so every size we make is within all three carriers’ maximum sizes.

Good to know: these limits are for general information and can change at any time, so check the current requirements with the carrier before shipping. Carrier rules verified July 30, 2026.

Freight & pallets

Pallet deliveries, liftgates, docks and freight class.

How do LTL Freight orders work?

LTL Freight orders ship on a 40" x 48" pallet. They're delivered to your loading dock, or curbside (at the curb or driveway) if you don't have one. For an additional fee, we can also arrange a liftgate: a hydraulic platform on the truck that lowers your pallet to the ground. Have special delivery needs? Let us know before your order ships, ideally when you place it, and we'll be happy to help.

I don't have a shipping dock, should I contact you before placing my order?

It helps, but it isn't required. Let us know before your order ships, ideally when you place it, and we'll make sure your delivery goes smoothly. Without a dock, deliveries use either curbside or liftgate service. Additional fees may apply, depending on what you need.

For LTL Freight, here are the two main options without a loading dock:

  • Curbside/driveway delivery: The driver brings the pallet to the back of the truck at your curb or driveway. You unload it from there, usually with a forklift, and move it to its final spot.
  • Liftgate delivery: The truck has a hydraulic platform (a liftgate) that lowers your pallet from the truck bed to the ground. It's the easiest option if you don't have a dock or heavy equipment. A liftgate fee applies, but it's well worth it for the convenience.

Tell us your situation and we'll recommend the best option for you.

I have a warehouse but no loading dock. How will my delivery work?

This is more common than you'd think! Many warehouses, especially smaller or older ones, don't have a raised loading dock. The most popular option is liftgate delivery. The driver uses a hydraulic platform on the back of the truck to lower your pallet to ground level. From there, you can use a pallet jack or forklift to bring it inside. If your warehouse has a roll-up or garage-style door, a liftgate delivery plus a pallet jack is usually all you need. Tell us your setup when you place your order and we'll make sure the right delivery method is selected. A liftgate fee applies.

I live in a residential area; can I still use LTL Freight?

Yes, LTL freight can deliver to residential addresses. Let us know before your order ships, since rates can be different when the truck needs to go into a residential area, and additional fees may apply.

Do I need to schedule a delivery for LTL (Freight)?

Not by default. If you need a delivery appointment, tell our team when you place your order, since appointments are usually set up before the order ships. We can sometimes add one after you order, as long as it hasn't shipped yet. Once it has shipped, we can't add one anymore. Additional fees may apply for scheduled deliveries.

I'm ordering a large order but don't want them to ship on skids, is it possible?

Yes. If you'd rather have your boxes shipped loose by parcel (FedEx, UPS) instead of on skids, we can do that. It can help if you don't have a loading dock or need boxes delivered to several locations. On larger orders, shipping loose can cost more than a single pallet, and handling and master-shipper charges apply. Reach out before you order and we'll compare the options for you.

What freight class is my LTL shipment?

Freight class for LTL shipments is set mainly by density: weight divided by volume, in pounds per cubic foot. Higher density means a lower class number, and a lower class means a cheaper rate.

Our free Freight Class Calculator estimates your NMFC freight class from your shipment's dimensions and weight, on the current 13-tier scale, with a legacy 18-class view if your carrier still uses it.

For reference, flat corrugated mailer boxes usually fall under NMFC 29785, general corrugated shipping containers under NMFC 29800, and corrugated partitions or dividers under NMFC 29810. Confirm your class and NMFC code with your carrier before shipping. Some commodities carry a fixed class that overrides the density calculation.

Because class is density-driven, right-sizing your packaging is the most reliable way to lower it. Eliminating dead air inside the box raises density and can drop you a class or two on every LTL shipment.

Receiving, damage & returns

Checking a delivery, assembly, storage, damage and returns.

What should I check when my boxes arrive?

It helps to look your delivery over as soon as it arrives. For a pallet, try to do it before the driver leaves. If you see any damage, like crushed corners, torn wrap or a broken pallet, take photos at delivery. If you can, also note the damage on the delivery receipt when you sign for it. Photos taken at delivery make a claim much easier.

Sometimes damage only shows once you open the cartons. If so, report it within 30 days of receipt, with photos. The sooner you report it, the easier the claim. If we arranged the shipping, we file the claim with the carrier for you. If you arranged it, the claim goes through your carrier. The details are in What if I receive damaged or incorrect products?

Only part of my order has arrived. What should I do?

Orders that ship as several parcels sometimes arrive over a few days, because each package travels through the carrier's network on its own. Check the tracking for the ones still on the way.

If one seems stuck, you can contact FedEx or the carrier directly. Or ask your account manager, who'll be happy to open a trace or a claim with the carrier for you. If a package is confirmed lost and we arranged the shipment, we'll remake the missing boxes.

What if I receive damaged or incorrect products?

We stand behind every order. If a printing error is on our end, we guarantee a full reprint at no charge. Just contact us within 30 days of delivery with photos of the issue and we'll take care of it. Please hold on to the affected boxes until the claim is resolved, since we may need to inspect them.

Damaged in transit? Reach out as soon as you can, and within 30 days of receipt, with photos. What happens next depends on who arranged the shipping:

  • We shipped it (the shipping you chose in our cart or on your quote): we file the claim with the carrier for you. We typically replace the damaged boxes while the claim is processed, so you're not left waiting.
  • You arranged the shipping (your own carrier account, a freight broker or a carrier pickup you booked): the order ships FOB origin. The boxes are yours from the moment the carrier collects them, so the claim goes through your carrier. We'll gladly help with photos, packing details and anything else the carrier asks for.

One more thing on parcels: we request a signature on every order of $300 or more, and you're welcome to ask for one on smaller orders too. If a package goes missing after it's delivered without a signature, that's the one case we can't replace. We're always happy to help you raise it with the carrier, though.

Can I return my boxes?

We aren't able to accept returns, and we'd rather explain why than just say no. Every box we make is built to order, in your size and with your artwork, so once it's made it can't go to anyone else. There's no shelf to put it back on, and no way for us to resell it.

That's why we put so much care into the steps before production. You see a proof of every order and can ask for as many revisions as you like, free. You can order a printed mailer sample for $35 + shipping to check the size, board and color in your hands first. And your account manager checks your files and flags anything that might not print well.

If something is wrong on our end, we'll make it right. See What if I receive damaged or incorrect products?

How do I assemble my boxes?

Assembly depends on your box style:

  • Mailer boxes: Your mailer arrives flat. Fold along the pre-scored lines to form the base, tuck in the side flaps, and fold the lid closed using the front tuck tab. No tape or glue is needed for assembly, though we recommend a piece of tape on the tuck closure when shipping to make the package tamper-proof.
  • Shipping boxes: These arrive flat but pre-glued, so assembly is quick. Pop open the box, fold in the bottom flaps (short flaps first, then long flaps) and seal with packing tape. Fill with your product and void fill, then fold and tape the top flaps shut.
  • Folding boxes: Folding boxes ship flat and pre-glued. Fold along the pre-scored lines to form the box shape, then tuck the bottom closure into place. Our folding boxes use a tuck-end closure that snaps together easily with no glue or tape needed.
  • Rigid boxes: Rigid boxes arrive fully assembled and ready to use. No folding or building needed. Just open the lid and put your product inside.

Questions about assembly, or want a walkthrough for your box style? Contact us and we'll be happy to help.

How should I store my boxes, and do they expire?

Keep them indoors somewhere dry, between about 40 and 100°F with relative humidity around 30 to 70%, off the floor and away from exterior walls. Humidity matters most: corrugated board takes on moisture from the air, and a box kept at 80% humidity loses close to a third of its stacking strength.

Empty boxes don't expire. As long as they're dry, square and uncrushed, they're good to use. For more on board strength and moisture, see our Packaging Board Chart and Box Stacking Strength Calculator.

How do you ensure high-quality boxes?

Every order goes through several quality checks. Before production, our prepress team reviews your artwork for resolution, bleed and color accuracy. During the run, our operators spot-check color consistency, print alignment and cut precision. Before shipping, a final inspection checks structural integrity, print quality and correct quantities. If anything doesn't meet our standards, we reprint at no cost to you. We also keep production samples on file to keep reorders consistent.

Payments, invoices & tax

Payment methods, invoices, credit terms and sales tax.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Checkout runs on Stripe, so you can also pay with Link, Stripe's one-click checkout. Link saves your card and shipping details once. After a quick code to your phone or email, it fills them in for you here and on any other site that uses Stripe.

We also take wire transfers and ACH. We can send an invoice for custom orders, reorders and anything quoted outside the standard checkout. Invoices are due on receipt by default. Established customers can ask about credit terms such as Net 15 or Net 30, and we'll confirm them in writing on the invoice.

Have a promo code? Enter it in the coupon field at checkout. Codes are case-sensitive, so paste yours exactly as you got it.

To pay by wire or ACH, or to get an invoice, contact us.

I received an invoice from Packwire. How do I know it's real, and how do I pay it?

Packwire invoices come from one of three places:

  • a link to packwire.com/inv/, our own invoice page;
  • Simple Invoices (simpleinvoices.io);
  • QuickBooks Online.

Pay with the options shown on the invoice. For a wire or ACH payment, put the invoice number in the payment memo so we can match it to your order. Anyone with the link can view the invoice, so share it only with the people who need it.

If an invoice reaches you from anywhere else, or the bank details look different from what your account manager gave you, check with us before paying and we'll confirm whether it's ours.

Simple Invoices and QuickBooks are third-party services. Packwire is not affiliated with or endorsed by them, and their names are trademarks of their respective owners.

Do you offer credit terms like Net 30?

Yes, for established business customers. A first order is due in full, whatever its size. Every box is made to your specs and can't be sold to anyone else, so that's how we start with new customers. When we already know your business in some way, such as an existing relationship or an introduction, we're happy to talk about terms from the start.

Once you've ordered with us, you can apply for terms like Net 15 or Net 30. That starts with a short credit review, which can include a credit application, a business credit report and the trade and bank references you give us. Approved terms are printed on the face of each invoice. Without them, invoices are due on receipt.

We review terms and credit limits over time, and they can change based on things like payment history.

To apply, ask your account manager or contact us.

How do I dispute an invoice?

Email sales@packwire.com within 15 days of the invoice date. Include the invoice number and what looks wrong. The rest of the invoice stays due on its usual date.

It's best to raise anything before you pay. Paying an invoice, in full or in part, confirms the amount and the specs on it. This doesn't affect your rights if the boxes arrive with a defect. See What if I receive damaged or incorrect products?

Do the terms on my purchase order apply?

We're happy to work with purchase orders. Your order is covered by our Terms and Conditions and the terms on our invoice. If something on your purchase order is different, like payment or shipping terms, ours apply unless we've agreed otherwise in writing.

Can you provide a W-9, a certificate of insurance or your tax numbers?

Yes. Our W-9 (or W-8BEN-E) and our GST/HST numbers are available on request. Contact us and we'll send them over.

Certificates of insurance (COIs) are the one exception. We don't issue them for orders placed on our website. Each certificate goes through our insurance provider and is drawn up for one specific customer. So we keep them for larger supply programs, beyond what you can order online. Planning one of those? Talk to your account manager and we'll work through it together.

Do you charge sales tax?

Orders shipping within the United States aren't charged sales tax. Our corrugated boxes are also made in the United States.

Orders shipping within Canada pay Canadian sales tax on both the product and the shipping. Depending on your province, that's GST, HST, or GST plus PST/QST. Checkout works it out for you automatically. Our prices are in US dollars.

Sustainability

Recycled content, recycling symbols, FSC board and inks.

Do you use recycled materials?

Yes. Our corrugated boards contain at least 50% recycled content, and all our boxes are 100% recyclable through standard curbside recycling. We partner with suppliers who follow responsible forestry practices. Our digital printing is also inherently more sustainable than traditional methods. It uses no printing plates, makes less chemical waste and lets us print only what's needed, which cuts overproduction.

Curious which liners are virgin kraft and which are recycled? The Packaging Board Chart breaks down every paper in a corrugated board.

What sustainability practices does Packwire follow?

Sustainability is a core value at Packwire. It shapes how we source, make and ship your boxes.

Materials: Our corrugated boxes contain at least 50% recycled content and are 100% recyclable through standard curbside programs. We partner with suppliers who follow responsible forestry practices. In North America, corrugated cardboard has recovery rates above 90%.

Production: Digital printing needs no printing plates and makes less chemical waste. It also lets us produce on demand. We only print what you order, so there's no overproduction or excess inventory. Our precision digital cutting makes the most of each sheet and cuts board waste.

Operations: Our Box Size Optimizer helps you right-size your packaging. Smaller boxes mean less material, less void fill and lower shipping emissions. We also plan shipping routes and pallet loads to use less fuel.

Which recycling symbol should I put on my boxes?

We recommend the Corrugated Recycles symbol for mailer and shipping boxes. It's made for corrugated boxes, it tells your customers the box can be recycled, and it's free to use.

Labeling rules can differ by state and country, so check the rules where you sell. Corrugated boxes are recycled almost everywhere in the US, and the Corrugated Recycles symbol is made for use worldwide.

Recycling symbols, How2Recycle labels and other on-pack marks go into your artwork like any other graphic. Include them in your files or add them in our 3D configurator. We print the artwork as supplied, so it's worth double-checking any claims before you approve your proof. See our note on label claims.

Do you use foam or plastic in your packaging?

Only when a product really needs it. Sustainability is something we take seriously, so our first choice is always corrugated cardboard. It's one of the most recycled materials there is. Ours contains at least 50% recycled content, and it goes straight into curbside recycling once your customer is done with it. Foam and plastic trays are much harder to recycle and are rarely accepted in curbside bins.

For most products, a corrugated insert cut to fit holds them just as securely. If yours really needs more, we can make vacuum-formed plastic trays, foam inserts and other non-paper packaging by quote, and we'll explain why we suggest it. The choice is always yours.

Tell us what you're packing and we'll suggest the most recyclable way to keep it safe.

Are your boxes FSC certified?

Not by default. FSC-certified board costs more, so to keep prices down our standard boxes are made from board that isn't FSC certified. If your brand needs FSC-certified packaging, we can source FSC-certified board for your order. Request a quote and mention it.

We care a lot about sustainability, with or without FSC. Our corrugated boxes contain at least 50% recycled content. Every box we make is recyclable. And we only print what you order, so there's no overproduction. For more on how we source and print them, see What sustainability practices does Packwire follow? and What inks do you use?

What inks do you use, and are they better for the environment?

Our digital presses print with UV-curable inks, which have real environmental advantages over traditional printing:

  • No solvents and no VOCs. The inks contain no solvents, so they release no volatile organic compounds as they dry.
  • No heat drying. They cure instantly under ultraviolet light as the board moves through the press, so there are no drying ovens and none of the emissions that come with them.
  • No printing plates. Digital printing goes straight from your file to the board, with no plates to make, no plate-making chemicals and no used plates to throw away.
  • Only what you order. With nothing to set up, we print the run you need and nothing more, so there's no overproduction to scrap.
  • Built to last. UV-cured ink is scratch-resistant, so your boxes arrive looking the way they left the press.

All our boxes, printed or plain, are recyclable.

Help & support

How to reach us, hours, reviews and accessibility.

How can I reach your customer service team?

Three ways to get us:

  • Email: hello@packwire.com, answered the same day and often right away
  • Phone: 1-800-881-6093, Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Eastern
  • Live chat: during business hours, bottom right of any page

You can also send us the details through our contact form, including artwork files if you want a second pair of eyes on them before you order.

Every customer is assigned a dedicated account manager who knows your orders, so you're not re-explaining your project every time you write in.

What are your customer support hours?

Packwire support is available Monday-Friday, 9 AM-5 PM Eastern Time. We always reply the same day, and we try to get back to you right away.

We're closed on major holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. When one falls on a weekend, we take the nearest Friday or Monday off, the same day most businesses do. On Christmas Eve, we close at 1 PM Eastern.

Will I get a chatbot or a real person?

A real person, every time. Packwire uses no AI chatbots, no phone trees, and no scripted responses for customer service. Every call, email, and live chat reaches someone on our team who works with packaging daily.

That matters most on the questions where a canned answer wastes your time: whether your artwork will hold up at print size, which board suits a heavy product, how to fit an odd-shaped item without paying for air. Your dedicated account manager can pull up your past orders and answer from those specifics rather than from a script.

See how to reach us for phone, email, and chat hours.

Are there customer reviews I can check?

Yes. Packwire holds a 4.8 out of 5 rating across 116 Google reviews. You can read all of them, including the critical ones, on our reviews page, or as plain text at packwire.com/reviews.txt.

They're also independently verifiable on Google rather than only on our own site: see our Google Business profile.

Is your website accessible?

Packwire works toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance and runs periodic accessibility audits against that standard. Our full accessibility statement covers our conformance status, known limitations, and the assistive technologies we test with.

We're open about the gaps: parts of our 3D configurator (drag-and-drop artwork placement, real-time 3D preview, and advanced color selection) can be difficult with some assistive technologies, and certain embedded third-party content may not fully conform.

If you hit an accessibility barrier anywhere on our site, tell us and we'll help you place your order directly. We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within five business days.
